How do we use donated funds?
We only use donated funds for hands-on animal care, i.e. veterinary treatments, food, medicines. We are an all-volunteer group so no monies are used for salaries. We do of course have operating expenses such as rent, electricity, and phone but we will not use your donation for any of these expenses unless you indicate otherwise.
All donations are tax-deductible and we will provide you with a receipt. Donate through Paypal TODAY!
We welcome in-person donations at our location. Your support helps us continue our mission of providing care and shelter to animals in Frederick County. Stop by to make a direct impact on the lives of animals in our community.

Membership avails you to the latest information on AWLFC activities, volunteer opportunities, animal welfare and humane awareness. Your annual membership fee supports programs such as our spay/neuter clinic, foster care for cats and dogs, and our TNR program.

As an AWLFC volunteer:

You have the opportunity to help educate pet owners about responsible pet care, including the importance of neutering and spaying to end overpopulation.

You have the ability to provide love and care for needy cats and dogs through our foster care program.

You have the ability to help Frederick’s residents to get access to proper and affordable veterinary care for their pets.

Fundraising Event Support
Public Relations and Fund-Raising Support
AWLFC strives to raise public awareness of animal welfare issues within our community. Ongoing activities include community outreach at local events and advertising of special events, etc.
Volunteers are needed to assist with writing articles, distribution of materials, and other related activities. Volunteers are also needed to assist with research about grants and grant-writing. AWLFC is also looking for volunteers to contact businesses for corporate sponsorships for memberships and for special events.
Office Support
In October 2009, the AWLFC opened a new office and small adoption center at 1202 East Patrick Street, Suite 13A, in the Eastgate Shopping Center.

Volunteer needs:

Weekend office hours for Food Bank, cat meet & greets, etc.

Weekly cleaning – vacuum and mop floor, light dusting, clean bathroom

Cat Care - We need cat care for our adoptable cats at our adoption center. We breakdown cat care into two shifts per/day, a am shift and a pm shift, seven days a week.

Washing, folding and putting away laundry (towels and blankets)

Digitizing certain paperwork and documents (office guide, voicemail guide, etc.)
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) Program
We are currently in need of volunteers to help with Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) Program.​
We are seeking passionate volunteers to join our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) Program! Our team is dedicated to managing feral cat colonies, providing them with daily care and medical attention, and spaying/neutering them as quickly as possible. If you share our love for animals and want to make a difference we would be honored to have you on board!
