As the World Health Organization has now declared the Coronavirus (COVID-19) a global pandemic, we are extending the closure of our adoption center to help keep our volunteers, clients and community safer. We hope to reopen May 1,2020. We are closely monitoring this situation to do our part in the prevention of the spread. We regret the disruption and will accept requests for adoption applications to During this time our phone lines will still be available and we will work to pick up messages as best we can. Thank you for your understanding. Please take care.

Become a Foster Parent

One of AWLFC's most important activities is providing foster care for cats who are awaiting adoption.

Foster care parents provide a safe and secure environment for cats in transition from homelessness and from Animal Control.

Parents are asked to provide shelter, food, and transportation for medical care and satellite adoptions each Saturday. Medical fees are covered by AWLFC. There are opportunities to foster all ranges of cats and kittens, from adults to bottle babies in need of special care. And you can foster once to help with a special case or on an ongoing basis.

Whatever your experience level, AWLFC will help you learn more about this critical volunteer activity.

Foster a Cat in Frederick MD We always need foster parents for cats and kittens. Foster parents provide:

  • A loving home
  • Socialization
  • Transportation for routine or emergency veterinary care

Foster parents must bring their cats/kittens, once fully vetted, to AWLFC adoption events and participate in the adoption process.

AWLFC pays for all veterinary care, food, and litter. We also provide training in foster care, if requested.
